GARDINER, GLADYS - The passing of Gladys Louise (Shanks) Gardiner of Noonan NB and formerly of Woodstock NB occurred at The Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Friday, April 12, 2013. Gladys was born in Houlton Me. USA, January 4 1920 to the late David and Christina Shanks. Survived by two daughters, Joan Drake (Paul), Debra MacDougall (Kevin), three grand-children, Rodney and Rebecca Drake, and William MacDougall. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, G. Bert Gardiner in 2001 and their only son George B. Gardiner in 1964, four brothers and two sisters. Gladys spent thirty four years in the nursing profession, a choir member for 20 years at the United Church, was past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was involved in several organizations as well as sports and oil painting.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation, flowers, or funeral service. A private family grave side service will be held at the Woodstock Rural Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to a memorial of the donor’s choice.
