Doris Mae Allen
Allen, Doris Mae (Harpell) – 79, Truro passed away peacefully April 11, 2013 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Wallace, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Gladys (Kendall ) Harpell. For many years, Doris served as a personal care worker in the Truro area. She was a dedicated member and supporter of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch #26. She gave generously of her time as a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force Club. Doris enjoyed bowling, darts, playing cards, music and dancing. She also enjoyed singing with the Legion Lyrics Group and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a devoted friend to many and will be sadly missed. She is survived by her loving children, Nancy (Dave) Hatfield, Truro, Barry, Edmonton, Alta., Brenda (Ken) Clark, Hartland, NB, Debbie Fielding, Swift Current, SK, Pam Kniel, Grand Prairie, Alta., Cheryl (Ronnie) Webb, Sackville, NS, Errol, Truro, Kevin, Ft. McMurray, Alta.; grandchildren, Mandy, Merrilee, Christopher, Lana, Tanis, Andy, Corey, Sherman, Brian, Travis, Mitchell, Kolby, Kelsi, Adam, Rebecca, Jordan; ten great grandchildren; nephew, Ron. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clayton Allen; her partner, Joe Bouley; sister, Isabell Bennett; children, Brian in infancy, Donna, Randy and Paul. A special thank you from the family is extended to Dr. Robert Graham and staff at the Truro Hospital. A Legion Auxiliary Tribute will take place on Monday, April 15 at 6:45 pm followed immediately by a visitation from 7-9 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 1:00 pm in the First Baptist Church, 759 Prince Street, Truro with Dr. Frank Gunita Jr. officiating.
