Marie Bertha Funk

Marie Funk {nee Friesen) age 97 , passed away after a brief illness at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon on April 15th, 20l3. Born September 9th , l9l5 in Hague, Sk., she was the oldest daughter of JC and Tina Friesen, in a family of 8 children. In 1936 she married Jacob A. Funk and this marriage lasted for 67 years. Jake and Marie spent their working years in Guernsey, Sk., and Prince Albert Sk. They retired to Saskatoon in 1988 where they faithfully attended Third Avenue United Church. In her later years, Marie resided at the Franklin and Prairie Spring Care Home. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of these residences for taking such good core of Marie. She was predeceased by her husband Jake and her son Kerby, as well as her sister Eva and brother Eric. She is survived by 5 siblings, Menno, Jack, Omar, Buno, and Edward, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Also left behind to mourn her passing are her children and their families: Wayne(Sheila)Funk, Elaine(Willard) Boschman, Garth(Anita)Funk, Loree Funk (Bill McGowan). She was loved and cherished by her 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. We would like to thank St. Paul’s Hospital for their loving care of our Mother and Grandmother. A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home on Sat. April 20th at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Church Mission and Service Fund, MCC , The Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the St.Paul's Hospital Foundation.
