Burton White

NEW GLASGOW – Burton Alexander “Burt” White, 78 of Munroe Avenue, New Glasgow, passed away April 16, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Alexander David and Viola (Fleury) White.
Burt was a resident of New Glasgow for the past 32 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church as well as the Knights of Columbus Council 1667.
Burt worked in Ontario for many years for A& P Grocery serving as manager before returning to New Glasgow where he worked for Sobeys for some 32 years retiring as Assistant Manager.
He was also involved in hockey for many years serving as Equipment Manager for the Bantam AAA’s.
He is survived by his wife the former Eileen Mahar, New Glasgow; a daughter Deborah Schmidt (Steve), Picton, Ont; twin sons Larry (Annette), USA; Barry (Mele), Lancaster, California; grandchildren: Mark, Victoria, Austin, Taylor and Christopher, step-children: Bernard MacPherson, Truro; Doris Stewart (Gary), New Glasgow; Kathy White (John), Granton; Marlene MacPherson (Delaney), Abercrombie; three step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, sisters Marilyn Folvig (John), Englewood, Florida and Beverley Darbyson (Peter), Ontario; several nieces and nephews.
His remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held at the Sister Catherine Steele Centre.
Donations in memory of Burt may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
