Marie Idell MacKay

MacKay (Langille) Marie Idell – passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 after a lengthy and courageous struggle with PSP in Debert Court, Debert, Nova Scotia.
Marie was born on January 25, 1925 in New Annan, the eldest daughter of the late Harry and Jean (Murray) Langille. She was a graduate of Provincial Normal College in Truro and taught school in Keble, Middleboro, Durham, Windsor, Ontario and Dartmouth.
She was a member of Salem United Church, Tatamagouche Mountain, Woodlawn United Church, Woodlawn UCW, Canadian Cancer Society New Annan Community Club, and volunteered for many community groups.
In 1960 she married James MacKay of New Annan. They lived in Dartmouth until retirement in 1980 when they moved to New Annan. They both loved to travel and play bridge.
Marie is survived by her brother, Elmon Langille, Central New Annan, sisters, Thelma Benjamin, Truro; Carrie Matheson, Tatamagouche; Reta Keizer, Dartmouth; Sister-in-law, Pearl MacKay, New Annan; nephews, Darrell & Ken Langille, Glen & Kevin Matheson and David & Craig Benjamin. Nieces, Jeanie Corkum, Karen Langille, Carol Ann Joyce, Tracy Keizer, all of Nova Scotia and Carolyn Jones, Las Vegas, Nevada, and their families; many cousins. Marie was blessed with so many great friends.
Marie was predeceased in 2002 by her husband Jim; sister in-law, Florence Langille; brothers-in-law, Murray Matheson, Willis Benjamin, Vernon Keizer and John MacKay.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013 in Coulters Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 in the funeral home. Reception to follow. Interment will be in Bell Gift Cemetery, West New Annan. Family flowers only. Donations in Marie’s memory may be made to Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital or a charity of one’s choice. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the exceptional care given Marie by the staff and volunteers at Debert Court.
