Agnes M. DeCoste, 87, of Arichat, passed away April 23, 2013 at her residence in St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre in Arichat.
Born in Arichat, she was the daughter of the late Alcide Marchand and Eva Jane (Richard) Marchand.
Agnes loved dancing, playing bingo, knitting, good times and loved her family dearly. She was a member of the Isle Madame Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150, Ladies Auxillary, Our Lady of Assumption CWL and New Horizons Seniors' Club.
Agnes is survived by daughters, Catherine (Basil) Andrews, Halifax, Diana (Amedee) Samson, Arichat; sons, Ronnie (Joanne), Bala, Ontario, Clem (Kathy), New Glasgow; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson.
She was predeceased by husband, Arthur "Bernie" Ernest DeCoste; brothers: Arthur, Velma, two brothers in infancy; and sister, Clarisse David.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd, Arichat. Mass of Christian Farewell to celebrate the life of Agnes Margaret DeCoste will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial to follow in Our Lady of Assumption Cemetery, Arichat.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre.
The family would like the thank the staff of Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home and the doctors and staff of St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre for the excellent care and kindness that Agnes received while she was a resident at both facilities. The family would also like to thank everyone near and far who were always a friend to Agnes.
