It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosina DiSano of Sydney, N.S.. at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, with her family at her side.
Born in Brittoli, Pescara, Italy, on June 19, 1917, to the late Giuseppe and Anna DiSano, Rosina came to Canada in 1954 to join her late husband Alberico DiSano.
Members of St. Nicholas parish since immigrating, both Rosina and Alberico worked tirelessly for their church. Rosina was a member of the ladies auxiliary for over 40 years. Her talents as a handcrafter and wonderful cook and baker were in much demand.
A lady of unwavering faith, Rosina made the pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre in Quebec, 20 times. Her last visit was at age 92. Rosina worked at Snow White Laundry and retired from City Hospital in 1978.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Alberico in 1996 and her only brother, Giovanni DiSano in 1984.
Rosina is survived by her nieces, Giuseppina (Angelo) Camilli, with whom she resided for the past four years, Antonietta (John) MacNeil and Anna (Gabriele) DiMichele. She also has nine great nieces and nephews and eight great grandnieces and nephews.
A gentle lady who loved and was much loved by all, including her late husband’s nephews and nieces in Italy, Canada and England.
Visitation for Rosina DiSano will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, today (Thursday) from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 2 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating with interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
