Roma (nee Vincent) Paul

Passed away suddenly at the Health Sciences Complex surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents: S.F. (Ted) and Nellie Vincent. Left with many wonderful memories are her husband; Eric, daughter, Nancy (Greg Kirby); son, Anthony (Joy Hart, and her sons Matthew and Jack); sisters: Ruby Lister, Patricia Vincent, and Sandra (Robert) Eaton; also close-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Roma was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family and treasured friends, entertaining at home or at the cabin and enjoying life to the fullest. A founding member of St. James United she was always dedicated to the church and its numerous volunteer activities, especially the UCW. For many years she had the honour of being the Newfoundland representative on the WICC. Curling and cards were always fun for Roma and those she played with. Roma's kind and gentle spirit and compassion touched many people and her numerous acts of kindness will never be forgotten. The family wish to extend a special thank you to Roma’s family physician, Dr. Mercedes Penton and her staff for all of their loving care over the past number of years as well as a special thank you to the physicians and nursing staff of the Emergency Department, 5 South A, and the CCU, who cared for her during her brief stay at the Health Sciences Complex. The exemplary care and compassion shown by the health care professionals during the last week of her life were a great comfort. Rested at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue. Visiting hours were Monday, April 29th, from 2 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., and on Tuesday, April 30th, from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2 - 5 p.m., and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service has taken place from St. James United Church, Elizabeth Avenue, on Wednesday, May 1st, at 11:00 a.m. Donations in Roma's memory may be made to St. James United Church, the Health Care Foundation, or a charity of one's choice.
