Kenneth Meisner

MEISNER, KENNETH “KENNY” LEROY - Surrounded by his loving family Kenneth Leroy Meisner, 77, of Lower Sackville, passed away on May 3, 2013 at home. Born in Kentville, he was the son of the late Frank and Pearl (West) Meisner. Kenny’s love of music began with the fiddle at the age of 11 (self taught) and at the tender age of 16 he released his first fiddle record which was played on radio station CKCN in Kentville. JB Hamm came to town and heard him on the radio, he hired Kenny to play and tour with him. He loved Country and Bluegrass music and most of all he loved to sing harmony which gave him a long and fulfilling career as a very well known fiddler, harmonizer and branching out as a drummer. Kenny played on the TV show the Downeasters which he was inducted into the NS Country Hall of Fame in 2002. Also the CBC Countrytime TV show in the 70’s and on many occasions a guest on the Don Messer show playing twin fiddles with his great buddy Dave Fenerty. For many years he played with Jerry Cole and the Roadmasters and in later years a Bluegrass band. Foremost his love of family ran very deep. Kenny had a wonderful sense of humour and was a great family provider. He worked construction in his early years and for 20 years worked in the maintenance department of the Dartmouth General Hospital where he retired. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Florence (Isnor); his devoted children; Victor (Julie Levesque), Moncton NB, daughter Shelley (Brad Chase), Middle Sackville; grandchildren, Amanda (Dan Chase), Kate, Jason and Ryan; great grandchildren: Fallon and Ethan; brother Reg and sister Eileen (Gerald) Foote.
