Malcolm MacLean

MacLEAN, MALCOLM - Malcolm Donald MacLean, at the age of 61, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at his home. He was the loving husband of Teresa MacLean for 11 years. Born March 2, 1952 in Ormstown, Quebec, the son to the late Donald and Margaret (Gilchrist) MacLean. Raised in Nitro, Quebec a sprawling industrial village near Montreal that provided the most ideal surroundings for a child growing up. His early schooling was in Valleyfield, Quebec, Ormstown Regional High School and Chateauguay Regional High School. He attended Queen’s University obtaining, in 1974 a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Civil Engineering. He joined the Ministry of Transportation in 1974 and worked in engineering and management positions until he retired in 2006. His work brought him into contact with some of the most progressive highway professionals in Ontario and across the country. His retirement years brought time to catch up with extended family and friends across Canada, become an accomplished wood worker and travel most of North America with his wife in their RV. He is survived by his cherished wife Teresa (Bradley) and his dearly loved son David of Houston, Texas; step-daughters Amanda Lamb and husband Tom of Welland, Ontario and Melissa Stevens and her companion Brett Hearn of Sussex, New Jersey; one brother Neil MacLean and his wife Lynn of Cornwall, Ontario and brother-in-law David Hess beloved husband of Malcolm’s late sister Susie Hess of New Hartford, Connecticut, also survived by sister and brother-in-law Laurie and Warren Kirby and brother-in-law David Bradley, “Uncle” Malcolm will be lovingly remembered by his nephews, Gregor, Tom and Sam and niece Kate. “Gramper Malcolm” will be missed by his dear grandchildren Joshua and Emily Lamb.
Family will receive friends at the Hulse and English Funeral Home, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines, Ontario 905-684-6346, on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
