ACKER, Jessie L. 79, Shelburne, passed away in Roseway Hospital, on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Born in West Green Harbour she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Evangeline (Burke) Scott. In her earlier years, she was an avid volunteer in her community and a member of the SVFD Ladies Auxillary. She was a member of the Hope Wesleyan Church, and a woman of strong faith. Jessie was widowed at a young age and devoted herself to her four children. She is survived by her son, Patrick (Dan); daughters, Judy (Maurice); Rebecca (Wayne); Lisa (Maynard); brother, Lawrence; sister, Diane. Lovingly known as “Nanny Bird” by her grandchildren, Terri, Carla, Karin, Kadin; and great, grandchildren, Jessica, Scott, Garrett, Emma and Amber; and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill; brothers, Carroll, Alden and Angus. Visitation will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson`s Funeral Home, Shelburne where the funeral service will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Debi Hill officiating. Private interment in Pine Grove Cemetery. The family is grateful to her family and friends who visited her at home and at Roseway Manor. In appreciation for the wonderful care Jessie received, her family respectively requests that memorial donations be made to the Voluntary Order of Nurses.
