Curtis Allaby

ALLABY, CURTIS - With sad and heavy hearts the family of Curtis Lorne Allaby, age 61, announce his passing on Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Moncton City Hospital. He was born on July 30, 1951, in Upham, NB, the son of the late Percy and Cora (Tayes) Allaby. During his almost 43 years as a quadriplegic he faced and overcame endless adversities and was a model for all who knew him. He was active in the Paralympic Games travelling throughout several New Brunswick cities and as far west as Winnipeg, Manitoba. After living in Upham under the constant and loving care of his mother he took it upon himself to move to Moncton to study computers at NBCC-Moncton. His remaining years were spent living in his own apartment and he could often be seen travelling on the sunny side of the streets or in the mall. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the fifth floor, NICU and SICU teams of the Moncton City Hospital and to his extended family and friends at his residence. Curtis is survived by sister, Rowena Cripps and sister, Wanda Black and her husband, Donnie; brother, Billy Allaby and his partner, Carol Fox and brother, Gordie Allaby and his wife, Lynne, his loving and dedicated brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Wanda Allaby; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Elinor Allaby; and brother-in-law, Stanley Cripps.
He is resting at Reid's Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, with visiting on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm and Thursday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Rob Marsh, will be held from St. Peter's Anglican Church, Upham at 11:00 am, on Friday, May 24, 2013. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery.
