It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Archie Dan MacEachern at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, on May 21, 2013.
Born in Inverness on Feb. 19, 1925, Archie Dan was the last surviving child of Hector and Katie (MacKinnon) MacEachern.
He joined the army at a very young age of 18 years and served overseas during the Second World War. Upon his return for a time he worked as a miner in Inverness and Blind River, Ont.
Archie was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 132, Inverness, where he thoroughly enjoyed working as the bartender for many years.
His passion for the village of Inverness and his many years of harness racing stayed in his heart and mind until the very end.
He will be sadly missed by his 11 children, Joanie (Martin) Chisholm, Newtown; Anne (Walter) Ayles, Riverview N.B.; Frankie (Linda), New Jersey, U.S.A.; Ricky (Florence), Fort McMurray Alta.; Marion (Barry) Lutes, Riverview N.B.; A.D. (Stacey) Sussex, N.B.; Gina, Hillsborough, N.B.; Brenda (Craig) Hillsborough, N.B.; Elaine (Mark) Pettipas, Antigonish; Wesley (Connie), Fort McMurray Alta.; and Dennis, Riverview, N.B.; 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Hermine and two infant children, Georgina and Archibald.
At his request cremation has taken place; a funeral mass will be held at a later date from Stella Maris Church, Inverness.
In memoriam donations to palliative care, St. Martha’s Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice, appreciated.
