FANTIN, MAUREEN PATRICIA (nee McGINN) - 81 years - April 15th 1932 - May 20th 2013 - It is with heavy hearts that the children announce the passing of their beautiful mother, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Beloved wife of John Fantin predeceased 2011. Loving mother of John (Brenda Kelly), Mary (Don Behune), Patricia (Robert Comacchio), Leanne, Paul (Alison Perry) and Patrick (Heather Evans). Cherished Nonna of Mark, Lisa, Christina, Kyle, Michael, Ellen, Evan, Nicholas and Kathryn. Dear daughter of Walter and Beatrice (nee Kenny) McGinn both predeceased. Dear sister of Clarice Roxborough (Kip deceased) of Fredericton, Michael McGinn (Carol deceased) of Arnprior and predeceased by her brothers Robert and Velma, Walter (Jean of Fredericton), Patrick and Margaret and by her sister Dorothy. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, she worked as a Registered Radiation Technologist before marrying the love of her life John in 1953. They moved to Coniston where they raised their children, then moved to Manitouwadge for 16 years before retiring back to Coniston. Maureen was a loving wife, a proud mother of six children and a very special Nonna to nine grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at The Lodge at Pioneer Manor who lovingly cared for Maureen for four years.
Rested at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St. Sudbury. Funeral Mass in St Paul the Apostle Church, Coniston on Thursday, May 23rd, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment at St John’s Cemetery, Garson. Prayers were at 3pm on Wednesday. Donations in memory of Maureen to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
