Sprague, Myrtle Irene - 90, Wentworth and Lower Onslow, passed away with her family by her side Saturday, May 25, 2013 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Wentworth, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Gladys (Swallow) Gower. Myrtle was a life member of Wentworth United Church and Wentworth UCW, and honourary elder of Wentworth United Church. She was also a member of the Wentworth Pioneer Club and was an avid card player. Myrtle enjoyed quilting and gardening over the years. More recently she lived with her daughter in Lower Onslow and regularly attended Trinity United Church in Onslow. Myrtle is survived by her son, Vernon (Eleanor), Wentworth; daughter, Grace Fiddes, Lower Onslow; brother, Norman, Wentworth; sisters, Alice MacRae, Tatamagouche; Elsie Tattrie, North River; grandchildren, Joyce and Kevin Sprague; Wendy and Sheri Fiddes; Nancy Adams; Michael, Andrew and Vicki Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Toni, Brett, Cody, Jordan, Melanie, Casey, Jeremy, Sidney, Adam, Shawn, Brianna, Kennedy, Kyle, Sara, Brett and Abigale; great great-grandson, Mason; sisters in law, Anne and Marion Gower. She was predeceased by her husband, Ira in 1994; daughter, Gladys Hamilton; son, Baby Ira; great-grandson, Justin Crawford; great great-granddaughter, Josie-Lynne Crawford; brothers, Joseph, Bernard, Gerald and Walter; sister, Frances Miller; son in laws, Murray Hamilton and William Fiddes. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, Wentworth (447-2930). Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m., Monday, May 27, with funeral service at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, all in Wentworth United Church. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
