Shirley Grant

GRANT, SHIRLEY A. - The passing of Shirley Ann Grant of Fredericton, N.B., beloved wife of Ervine E. Grant, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday June 2, 2013. Shirley was 82. Born in Dow Settlement, N.B. on June 28, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Peter S. and Martha M. (Treadwell) Cummings. Shirley was a faithful and dedicated member of the Island View Baptist Church. In her earlier years, Shirley was a School Teacher having taught at Yoho and Southampton schools. She also worked for the Royal Bank of Canada in Fredericton for a few years. Shirley was an avid quilter and spent many enjoyable hours knitting and crocheting. Shirley will be sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Ervine and by her son Stephen Grant and his wife Sharon and their children Hayley, Eric and Jamieson Grant all of Kentucky. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved her family dearly especially her grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by sisters Grace Rideout of Dow Settlement and Leona Grant of Bedell, N.B. as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Her parents, a son Dale (1974) and brothers Ellis and Austin all predeceased her.
Shirley’s request for no public visitation hours will be respected, however, friends are welcome to join the family for a celebration of Shirley’s life to be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 2 PM from the Island View Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Pallbearers will be Paul MacDonald, Bill Olford, Ross Stephenson, Bob Graham, John Stevens and Lawrence Ward. Interment to follow in the Dunphy Cemetery where she will be buried beside her beloved son Dale. It was Shirley’s desire that Memorial Contributions be made to the Island View Baptist Church.
