Walter Joseph "Bud" Lund

Peacefully, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, of Mr. Walter J. “Bud” Lund (veteran of the Second World War) of Charlottetown, age 87 years.
Beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Chapell) Lund and dear father of George (Jan) Lund, Jamie (Gaylene) Lund, Karen (Lloyd) White, Sandra (Michael) Penkala, Marvin (Carol) Lund and Dawn (Kevin) Bowen. He is also survived by 15 loving grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Victor (Joy) Lund; sister-in-law, Gloria (Dailus) Gauthier; and brother-in-law, Robert Gallant.
He was predeceased by his parents, Pearl and Walter Lund; sisters, Dorothy Larter and Audrey O’Connor; and grandson, Jeremy Lund.
Bud was very active all his life in many sports, he was the Umpire Chief for P.E.I. Softball for 35 years and was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame, he had an extensive boxing career winning more than 90 professional fights, he won several Masters curling tournaments, along with a Canadian Legion Championship, but I think his greatest love was for the game of golf.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Saturday morning then transferred to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visiting hours on Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Veteran’s Tribute Service at the funeral home on Friday evening at 6:45 p.m.
