FLAATA-Julianna Flaata long-time resident of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully June 7th, 2013 at the Prairie View Health Centre, Mankota, SK. Predeceased by her parents John & Esther Sohoda, an infant son Alvin, son Roger Melvin and estranged husband Stenner Flaata, Julianna leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Vivien (J.Howard) McLeod and Beverley (S.Grant) Switzer; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Scott (Tammy) McLeod and their sons Tuftin, Tyce and Tee; Shannon McLeod; Brett (Katlyn McKay) McLeod; Bonnie nee Switzer (Troy) Wagman and daughter Kyla; Jason Switzer and his daughters Shelby and Caylee. Julianna is also survived by her only sibling Helene of Toronto, ON as well as several nieces and one nephew. Julianna was born in Hungary on April 16, 1920 and immigrated to Canada in 1928. She grew up in the Mankota area and married local rancher Stenner Flaata. Later she moved to Ontario following her lifelong dream of becoming a licensed health care provider, giving ‘Compassionate Care’ to others. On returning to Saskatchewan, she worked at Pioneer Village, Regina, later herself becoming a resident there. In March of 2013 she was transferred to Mankota Prairie View Health Centre to be nearer some of her family. Julianna was a member of Mankota Calvary United Church and Lifetime Member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Julia’s family wishes to thank Pioneer Village and PVHC for their care. A celebration of Julianna’s life was held June 11, 2013 at the Mankota Calvary United Church with Reverend Mathias Ross officiating, followed by a time of fellowship at the Agricultural Hall. As a misty shower of light rain fell, Julianna along with her son Melvin were laid to rest in baby Alvin’s plot at the Pinto Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Kincaid, SK.
