It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, but peacefully passing at the Health Science Center of Robert Richard Thorne, aged 57 years, of Torbay,. Robert was a long time employee of Eastern Health (St. Patrick’s and Hoyles-Escasoni) and a long time member of the NL. Antique and Classic Car Club. Predeceased by his mother Diana Thorne (Nov 2010); parents-in-law: Peter Lynch (Nov 2001), and Mary Lynch (March 2009). Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 36 years Doreen (nee Lynch); daughter Dr. Leanne Martin (Dr. Glynn Martin); son Paul (Tracy Bishop); grandchildren: Dawson and baby Avery due in August; father Alfred Thorne of St. John’s; brother David (Karen) of St. John’s; brothers-in-law: Greg (Kate) of St. John’s and Doug (Brenda) of Torbay; sister-in-law Colleen Valiquette (Mark) of Peterborough, Ont; uncle Walter Thorne (Marjorie) of Torbay; aunts Dorothy (Eric Chafe) of Mt. Pearl, and Eileen Squires (Hayward-deceased) of Portugal Cove; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay, on Wednesday from 12 noon - 9p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. - 9p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10 a.m. from Holy Trinity Church with interment to follow at the R.C. Cemetery, Bauline Line. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Dialysis Unit, Waterford Hospital or Rainbow Riders.
