It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Catherine 'Kay' Cameron. She passed away peacefully with her husband at her side in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home on Tuesday, June 25, 2013.
Born in Boisdale on April 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late John Allan and Sarah (MacKenzie) MacMullin. She was a very faithful member of St. Joseph parish, Port Hawkesbury.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Duncan; her daughters, Sheila (Charlie) MacDonald, Middle Sackville; Jo-Ann (Justin Hawley), Port Hawkesbury; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Daniel MacDonald and Maegan and Kayla MacLean. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who considered her their special aunt.
A most loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, she always had time for a cup of tea and a chat with everyone she knew. She had a tremendous memory and never forgot an occasion to send a card, give a hug or make a phone call.
Kay was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by brothers, Dan Rory, John Dan; sisters, Margaret, Johanna, Sadie; stepbrothers, Allan, Dan Mark, Joe, John; stepsisters, Mary, Johanna, Evelyn and Katie.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. with vigil service at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with her nephew Fr. Allan MacMillan officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Parish Cemetery or to the ALC Unit of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
