Grace Turner

TURNER, Grace – 79, Milford, passed away on July 7, 2013 in the Magnolia Continuing Care Home, Enfield. Grace was born in 1934 in Carrolls Corner, to the late George and Hilda (Isenor) Smith. Mom was happy and fun-loving and very dedicated to her family, friends and community, always ready to lend a helping hand. Throughout the years she had many joys in her life - her church, volunteer work, dancing, parties, camping, fishing, travel and of course her grandchildren. She worked for many years at Cara Operations in the Halifax International Airport. She was a loving wife to husband James “Kemp” Turner, who passed away in January 2000, after 48 years of marriage. She was a wonderful mother to Clarie and Bruce both of Milford; Sharon Turner-Starratt (Wayne Starratt), Fall River. She adored her granddaughters Ashlee Starratt, Doha, Qatar; and Alison Starratt, Halifax. She is also survived by sisters Margaret Fulton, Stewiacke; Cora Smith, Scott’s Bay; Ruby (Alton) Tupper, Enfield; Marion (Ross) Barr, Shubenacadie; and Avis (Jamie) Densmore, Halifax. She was predeceased by sisters Edith Smith and Violet Nelson, brothers Carl, Ike “Max”, Oran and Jim Smith. Mom’s final years were happily spent with the “Golden Girls”, playing weekly cards and attending every community card party and card marathon. Mom was so blessed to have such faithful friends and family who stayed close and supported her to the end. Special thanks to the Magnolia Staff for your wonderful care. Visitation 6-9pm, Tuesday with funeral service 4:30pm, Wednesday both in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Canon David Fletcher and Rev. Patty McKenna officiating.
