Malcolm Briffett, 77, of Donkin Highway, Donkin, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 6, 20, at My Cape Breton Home for Seniors, Westmount.
Born in Donkin, Malcolm was the son of the late Edward and Isabella (Noseworthy) Briffett.
Malcolm was a member of St. Gregory’s Church, Donkin, as well as the caretaker there for 27 years. He enjoyed watching television and had a good sense of humour.
Malcolm is survived by his two brothers, Ron (Marg), Moncton, David, Montreal, and several nieces and nephews. Malcolm will be sadly missed by his longtime neighbour and niece, Johnena (Roy) Vaters and their two children, Trina, Amanda and grandson, Zachary.
Malcolm was predeceased by six brothers, Tom Yetman, Joe, Jim, Fred, Albert ‘Tony,’ Frank in infancy and three sisters, Marie, Gladys Spurrell and Beatrice in infancy.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Norman MacPhee, will be in St. Gregory’s Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. followed by interment in the parish cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Malcolm, memorial donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
