Passed on: July 10th, 2013

HAYWARD, Harley Glen It is with profound sadness that Lillian Hayward announces Harley’s passing at the age of 91 years on July 10, 2013 at the Swift Current Care Centre. Harley was born to Harry and Teresa Hayward in Brandon, Manitoba in 1921. He had two sisters, Elva and Glena (both predeceased Harley). After graduating from Brandon Collegiate, he joined the army at the age of 18. He met Lillian Moffat after his discharge and they were married in 1945. Shortly after they were married they moved to Calgary and Harley joined EECOL Electric as Salesman, until his transfer to Swift Current as manager of the EECOL Electric branch here. He retired at the age of 65. While in Swift Current he was an active member of the Elmwood Golf Club, holding many positions with the Club. He was presented with an Honorary Lifetime Membership in 2011. He was also a member of the Eagles, the Royal Canadian Legion #56, and the Elks. Harley’s life started with his first golf lesson from his dad at the age of 8. During his first game, his ball went into the rough and his dad told him to look for it and Harley would not go into the rough to look for the ball so his dad sent him walking home. That was his first golf lesson. Harley went on to score eight holes in one in his lifetime. Harley and Lil spent their retirement years in Mesa, Arizona, and golfing in Swift Current. In his memory, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #56 in Swift Current. At Harley’s request, no service will be held.
