TRURO – James Philip Murray, 83, Truro, passed away July 17, 2013 in the QEII Infirmary Site, Halifax.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Harry and Jessie (Kennedy) Murray.
In his earlier years, he raised standardbred horses. Later, he was employed with Zellers and with Sears, from where he retired. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing many kinds of flowers.
Surviving are his sons: Sandy, Randy (Shelley), Jamie; sister, Helen (Joe) Fulghum; brother, Ivan (Betty); step-granddaughter, Wendy McNutt; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Joan Ferns; sister, Rachael Carswell.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Trinity United Church, New Glasgow, Rev. James Shaffner officiating. The family will meet friends for a reception following the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
