LUSTIG, Anne Petrikke

Anne passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the age of 89 years. She was born on July 21, 1923, in Tromso, Norway, to Gunhild and John Eide. Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Joe; her beloved granddaughter Lisa; her brothers and sisters in Norway; Solveig, Brunhild, Kari, Vigleik and Kollbjorn. She is lovingly remembered by her five children; Randi (Gord) Kennedy, Gary (Kathy) Lustig, Janice Lustig, Linda (Doug) Reinbold and Vicki Lee (Scott) Lachance; twelve grandchildren, Erin Kennedy (Jianni Marchiori), Sarah Kennedy (Pat Maloney), Jane Kennedy, Erik Lustig (Kimberley Boyko), Kari Lustig, Brett (Julie) Lustig, Siri Reinbold, Stefan Reinbold, Maren Reinbold, Thomas Lachance, Turner Lachance, and Taylor Lachance; eight great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Gianna and Luca Marchiori, Quinn and Bridget Maloney, Anika and Sonja Groff and Brando Lustig and a large extended family in Norway. She met Joe when he was a Canadian airman stationed in Norway at the end of the war. They were married in Stavanger, Norway on November 10, 1945. Anne came by ship to Canada as a war bride in January 1947. She and Joe settled in Prince Albert, where Joe taught school and they raised their five children. The family enjoyed many summers at their cabin at Emma Lake. Anne made several trips back to Norway over the years to visit with her family. After Joe retired, they spent winters in Mesa, Arizona. In 2004 Anne and Joe moved to Broadway Terrace in Regina to be closer to family. After Joeís death in October 2006, the many close friendships Anne had made there became even more important to her. The last few months of her life were spent at Sunset Extendicare. During this time, Anne received a wonderful visit from her nephew Jon and his wife Berit from Norway. The memories of this visit buoyed her spirits during the last few difficult weeks before her death. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Sunset for their compassionate care. A MEMORIAL SERVICE to celebrate Anneís life will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina SK on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 2 pm.
