Robert Wayne “Joe” Arnold
NEW GLASGOW – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of “Joe” Robert Wayne Arnold, age 66, of New Glasgow. Joe passed away peacefully July 22, 2013, in St. Martha’s Hospital Antigonish, after suffering a stroke on July 20th, 2013.
Born in Stellarton he was a son of the late John Charles Arnold and Lillian (Morgan) Arnold.
Joe had worked hard all his life as a mechanic with his career, ending with his own garage in Trenton. He was a lifelong member of the Pictou County Military Rifle Association and an avid target shooter. He was a collector of military memorabilia and on the Board of Directors of the Pictou County Military Heritage Museum.
Left to mourn are son, John (Anna), Pictou; daughter, Marion (Bill), Stellarton, grandchildren, Brennen, Jachai, Damek, Luke, Emma, Jacob, and Molly; brother, Bill (Marie), Pettawawa, and sister, Lillian, Mississauga, ON.; sisters-in-law, Sylvia (Raymond), Pictou; Virginia (Billy), New Glasgow; Carolyn (Tim), Pictou Landing; Julia (Derrick), Trenton; Theresa (Steve), New Glasgow; brothers-in-law, Stan (Bonnie), Halifax; Sid (Dorothy), New Glasgow; and Johnny, New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Rita, granddaughter, Abigail, brothers, Raymond and George, sister, Muriel, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton, with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pictou County Military Heritage Museum.
