MYUNG SOO "MEL" KIM
January 19, 1942 ~ August 3, 2013
After a long and brave struggle with cancer, Mel passed away peacefully on August 3, 2013.
Mel is survived by his loving wife Jeung Ja "Jennifer" Kim, children John (Allison) and Susan (Hugues), grandsons Nathaniel and William and many brothers, sisters and extended family members.
Mel was born in (South) Korea and moved to Canada in 1975. He was very devoted to his family and an avid golfer who would be often seen "in the middle of the fairway" at Rivershore Golf Links. A gifted musician and faithful Christian, he served as choir leader for many Churches he worshiped at throughout Korea and Canada. He was well loved and respected by all those who knew him - a true gentleman who will be fondly missed.
Memorial Services for Mel will take place on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel in Kamloops and on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Vancouver Korean United Church, 3821 Lister Street, Burnaby.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
