John Knifton Walker

John Knifton Walker, AAC, FRI, CD, age 63 of Trenton, NS, died peacefully in hospital on August 24th, 2013.
John was born in Saint John, NB on December 9th, 1949 to Lawrence and Helen (Lynch) Walker, both deceased.
He was also predeceased by his brother Reg Myers.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Kathy (Archer); sons, Chris (Krista) Cornwall PEI, and Terence (Doreen) Pictou, NS, his grandchildren: Mackenzie, Keegan, and Emerson who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother Glen (Jane), sister Susan Baldwin (Alf), both of Dartmouth, in-laws: Carol Myers, Dartmouth; Norma Chappell (Brian), Bedford and Judy Anderson (Fred), Paradise, NL; nieces and nephews: Adam, Robin, Owen, Shelley, Susan, Mike, Kathy, Anson, Sara and their families. John also had a large extended family and many good friends.
He was a long time employee of the Sobeys family of Companies, where he worked as the Property Tax Manager. His lifelong love of airplanes led to his involvement in the Air Cadets of Canada. He worked with the Cadets at the squadron level and then joined the Air Cadet League of Canada, where he served on the Board of Directors as 1st Vice President and Treasurer. Other activities and interests included the Bluenose Curling Club, Pictou County Amateur Radio Club, Stanley Airport as well as reading and camping.
At John’s request his body has been donated to Dalhousie’s Medical School and a private family funeral will follow at a later date.
There will be a celebration of John’s life at the Bluenose Curling Club, Park St., New Glasgow, on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 from 2-4 p.m.
Donations can be made to the Air Cadet League of Canada or Aberdeen Palliative Care.
