JOHNSON-It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa: Kenneth Arnold Johnson, age 91 years, of Swift Current and formally of Leinan district, on Friday, August 16, 2013, at the Cypress Regional Hospital. The funeral service was held on August 23, 2013 from St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating. The interment was held in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The soloist was Evelyn Thiese and was accompanied by Yolande Gorrill. The ushers were Ron Frame and Dylan Andreychuk. The pallbearers were Don and Derek Andreychuk, James Johnson, Steven Douville, Scott Lenz and Billy Buckton, and the honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in Ken's life. Ken is survived by his four children, Garry (Geri) Johnson of Swift Current, Karen Bailey (Ron Frame) of Lacadena, Brenda (Don) Andreychuk of Saskatoon, and Jayne Johnson of Medicine Hat; eleven grandchildren, Cynthia (Scott) Lenz, Tammy (Kris) Johnson, Tara (Steven) Douville, James (Amanda) Johnson, Kyla (Ryan) Marien, Kendra Bailey (Riley Nelson), Jayden (Billy) Buckton, Derek Andreychuk (Caitlin Brent), Dylan Andreychuk, Jared Andreychuk and Andy Seibel; 18 great grandchildren; sisters Margaret (Vern) Selvig, Doris Turner of Swift Current; and brother Raymond (Shirley) Johnson of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Matilda Johnson; wife Pauline Beatrice Johnson; sister Esther Johnson; brother Norman Johnson; brother-in-law Tom Turner; and daughter-in-law Valerie Johnson. Ken attended school in Kilton Hill (in the Leinan district), and only spoke Norwegian when he began school. He also attended the U of S and studied Agriculture. He was united in marriage to Pauline Steensland, of Leinan, SK, on July 16, 1955 in Swift Current. They farmed North of Swift Current for 40 years until Pauline's passing in 1996. Ken continued to live on the farm for a few more years, then moved into town, while Garry and Geri took over the farm operation. He still drove to the farm almost everyday, helping out where needed. In the spring of 2013, Ken was unable to participate physically on the farm due to health reasons, but still took any opportunity to talk farming. He had a visit to the farm and a crop tour just days before his passing that brought him great satisfaction. Farming was his passion, family was his pride and first priority. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Val, the staff at the Cypress Regional Hospital and the Palliser Regional Care Centre for their care and compassion shown to Ken over the last several months. Donations maybe be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Ken. Rest in peace Dad... We love you. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
