Lawrence Shipley

Shipley, Lawrence Allen “Pinky” Truro, passed away suddenly, on August 24, 2013.
Born in Truro, on July 15, 1940, he was a son of the late Lulu Shipley and Pearly Cochrane.
Pinky was employed with the Town of Truro for many years. He later owned and operated Pinky’s Taxi Service. He spent many years coaching minor baseball and hockey leagues. He was an avid outdoorsman, a member of the Golden Age Auto Club, and loved his Habs! Pinky took great joy in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives, as well as treating many of the neighbour’s children as his own.
He is survived by his loving wife, and best friend, the former Margaret Scott; sons, Lloyd (Theresa), Kevin (Debbie); grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan (Brittany), Erin and Bailee; great-grandchildren, Hope and Payton, all of Truro; sister, Agnes Buda, Toronto, Ontario; brother, Sterling, Truro Heights.
He was predeceased by brothers, Harold, Jack, Ted, Kenneth, and Floyd.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 1- 2:30 p.m., followed by funeral service at 3 p.m., all in St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro, Pastor Jacqueline Ross officiating.
Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
