HICKS, MARJORIE - It is with sadness the family of Marjorie Louise (Wood) Hicks, wife of Guptill F. Hicks, announce her passing which occurred at Embassy Hall, Quispamsis, on Sunday, August 25, 2013. She was born on March 24, 1930 in Baie Verte, NB, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Murphy) Wood. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. The early years were spent at Hicks’ Beach where everyone was welcome. In later years Marjorie and Guptill travelled throughout Canada and the US with their motorhome. They were proud members of the Perfect Circle Chapter of F.M.C.A.. After travelling became too much, they went back to Hicks' Beach. Marjorie loved attending church and was an active member of Quispamsis U.C.W. Besides her husband, Marjorie is survived by one daughter; Susan Herrington (Grant) of Toronto, ON, two sons; Hugh (Kathleen) of Kitchener, ON, Gary (Nancy) of Quispamsis; three sisters Noreen (James) McFarlane, BC, Lorna (Malcolm) McNeil of Fredericton, and Shirley (Ronald) Graham of Cornwall, PE; one brother Hugh (Phyllis) Wood of Baie Verte, NB, two great grandchildren, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters Jean, Dorothy, Helen and Marie and three brothers Lorne, David and Basil.
Arrangements for Marjorie are under the care of Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), Hampton, NB. She is resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd., Quispamsis, NB, with visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Audrey Lounder, will be held from the Chapel at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, on Thursday August 29, 2013. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date.
