BABIN, JACQUES - It is with sad and heavy hearts that the family of Jacques Joseph Babin of Darlings Island, NB, husband of Eva (Parlin) Babin, announce his passing on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Jacques, known to his friends as Jack, was born in Atholville, NB on February 7, 1924, to the late Alex and Genevieve Babin. Jack was a veteran and was proud to have served in World War II. He retired from Canada Post in 1989 after 34 years of service and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and travelling to visit family and friends in his retirement. He was an avid hockey fan and stayed true to his Montreal Canadians. Besides his parents, Jack was per deceased by his daughter Gail, four sisters; Lena, Meada, Mary and Marie and three brothers; Andrew, Walter and Edmund. He is survived by his wife; Eva, daughter; Connie White (Darryl Pierce) of Darlings Island, son; Jacques (Joanne) of Rothesay, sister; Helene of Montreal, grandchildren; Elaine (Mark) McIntyre of Saint John, Melissa (Dion) Higgins of Toronto, Richard Babin of Rothesay, Brandon White of Darlings Island and two great grandchildren.
As per Jack’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home, (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
