Don (Doc) Cholmondeley

Don (Doc) Cholmondeley went home to be with his Lord September 4, 2013.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Gail (nee Collard). Loving father to Andrew (Kristen) and Sara (Denis DesForges). Special Grampy to Katelyn, Isla and baby Emerson Dove (predeceased) Cholmondeley and Cynthia and Eleanor DesForges. Loving son of John and Tilly (both predeceased). Dear brother to Debbie (David Grant), Stephen (Isabel) and David. Loving son-in-law to Jean Collard (Lloyd predeceased) and dear brother-in-law to Cheryle, Betty (Richard), Sandy (Pat) and Mandee (David). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Don was born in Nova Scotia and moved with his family when he was 11 years old to the Sudbury area. He worked at Falconbridge from 1968 to 1999. Don was a member of First Baptist Church where he volunteered as a deacon, envelope secretary (25 yrs), and as a board member of Teddy Bear Day Care. Hockey was a lifetime enjoyment and ‘Doc’ volunteered for many years mostly as a trainer and then equipment manager in his later years. He was inducted into the Valley East Sports Hall of Fame in 2007 for his many years of volunteering. He was also involved with Scouting as a leader in Beavers and Boy Scouts. Don ‘Doc’ was a friend to many and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. A loving husband, father, grandfather, he remains always an example of dedication to family and faith.
Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury.(Friends may call 2-5; 7-9 p.m. Friday).
Funeral Service at the First Baptist Church, Garson Saturday, September 7th, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment at the Valley East Cemetery.
