MERCER, JAMES - James Warren Mercer of Kingston, NB, passed away unexpectedly at his residence, on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at the age of 67. He was born in Bloomfield, NB on February 20, 1946. Jim is the beloved husband of Norma (Flewelling) Mercer and son of Elsie (Tays) Mercer and the late Warren Mercer. Jim was well respected in the community. He served 20 years in scouting on the Kingston Peninsula and a volunteer with the local youth group. Jim was a member of the Insulator Union Local 131 (Heat and Frost Asbestos Workers). Jim could be found camping and ATVing with friends and family whenever he could. Jim is remembered as a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 45 years; sons Martin Mercer and Samantha Senecal of Lachine, QC, Scott Mercer and his wife Sheri of Kingston, NB, Troy Mercer and his wife Angella of Kingston, NB, Jeff Mercer and his wife Chrissy of Kingston, NB; grandchildren Chelsey, Nathan, Elizabeth, Amelia, Emma, Jacob, Benjamin, Paige; brothers Calvin Mercer and his wife Dale, Raymond Mercer and his wife Shelley; sisters Doreen Folkins and her husband Steve, Donna Chase and her husband Mike, Barb Buchanan and her husband Buzz; four sister-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Jim was predeceased by his brother Larry Mercer.
The family will receive family and friends at Reid's Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, on Sunday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 PM. A Celebration of Jim's life, will be held from Reid's Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM, on Monday, September 16, 2013, followed by interment in Big Rock Cemetery, Bloomfield. Donations in memory of Jim, may be made to the Diabetic Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the memorial of the donor's choice.
