UNDSETH- Vernon Clinton John. It is with profound sadness that we, the family, of Vernon Clinton John Undseth, announce his passing. After a long hard struggle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and a fierce determination to live, Vern succumbed to his illness on Sept. 5/2013 in Calgary AB at the age of 69 years. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Sandra; children Clinton (Andrea), Michael (Charlene), Perry (Arlene), Rebecca (Jarid Rolliston); grandchildren Leif, Christian, Torre, Colton, Claire, and Lauren; sisters Esther Hiebert, Dolores Trepanier, Dianne Fraser, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and many cousins, mother-in-law Julie Wilson, brother-in-law Lyle (Beata) Wilson. Vern was predeceased by his parents Sid and Margaret Undseth, brother Curtis Undseth, niece Margaret Undseth Curley, brothers-in-law George Hiebert and Don Fraser, father-in-law Gordon Wilson. Vern was born in Cabri SK on May 30, 1944. He grew up in Pennant and took his schooling there. Vern met Sandra Wilson in high school and they married in 1964. They started their family (Clinton and Michael) in Pennant where Vern drove truck in the oilfield before beginning his electrical apprenticeship. In the summer of 1967 the family moved to Kelowna BC, where Perry and Rebecca joined the family. Vern completed his apprenticeship and learned the construction trade, working in jobs throughout BC, AB, and SK. for many years. The proposed upgrader and promise of employment took the family to Lloydminster. Vern enjoyed selling homes for Nelson Homes until problems necessitated a break in employment. In 1995 Vern and Sandy moved to Calgary where Vern took his Electrical Safety Codes training. In Oct. of 1995 Vern joined Kenonic Controls in Calgary, and always said that “this was the best job I ever had”. Sadly, declining health forced an early retirement. He made friendships that continued for the rest of his life. Vern was incredibly proud of his family and cherished time spent with them. He adored is grandchildren, rarely missed any of their school activities or sporting events, and thought they were the best-looking and smartest grandchildren ever! He loved their cottage at Windermere along with the boating, fishing and many visits from family and friends that came with it. He had a love of horses and in better health enjoyed the peace and tranquility of riding in nature’s open spaces. Vern had an amazing sense of humor, and everyone who knew him or were lucky enough to be on his daily call list will miss his many quick-witted responses. He was truly loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Vernon’s life was held at Hope Lutheran Church, Calgary AB on Sept. 10/2013, followed by a graveside service at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fosterton SK. On Sept. 14/2013.
