It is with deep and profound sadness that the family of William (Bill) French announce his peaceful passing, surrounded by the love of his family, at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, on Sunday, September 15, 2013, after a brief but incredibly brave battle with cancer. Predeceased by his dear mother, Emily French, and his two sons Robert (Bobby) and Richard (Ricky), whose loving memories he held so very close to his heart, William is survived by his beloved wife Norma and his adoring family; daughters: Anita (Gerard) Pomeroy of Stephenville, Elaine (Keith) Layden of Corner Brook, Patty (Glenn) LeRoy of Lloydminster, AB, son Jamey (Jeanette) of Corner Brook, step-son Kevin Christian (Ruby) of Cape St. George and sister, Anita (James) Mahoney of St. John’s. Also left to mourn are his cherished grandchildren: Sheldon, Heather, Matthew, Ashley, Adam, Brandon, Carleen, Jaime, Maria, great-grandchildren Emily and Brenden and a large circle of relatives and friends. Friends may call at Russell’s Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville on Wednesday, September 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Parish, West Street, Stephenville. In keeping with William’s wishes, cremation is to take place with inurnment to follow at the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made in William’s memory to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation.
