Evelyn Armstrong

Evelyn Mae Armstrong (Tighe) passed away quietly on September 15, 2013. Born on the thirtieth day of the third month, 1930, as she always liked to remind everyone, Evelyn spent her younger years in Limerick, graduating from Limerick School in 1947. She then went to Normal School in Moose Jaw, and began teaching in Eastleigh then went to Pheasant Plains School in the Blackwood District on the northern tip of the Qu’Appelle Valley where she met the love of her life, Ted Armstrong. They were married in 1950. Evelyn worked at many places but was a familiar face at the South Hill Co-op before she moved to the downtown location. After retiring from there she worked at Zellers until she decided to spend time with Ted, to travel and to attend rodeos in Craven. A devoted wife, a caring mother, loving grandmother and great grandmother and a generous host, she loved to entertain and there was always an extra plate at the table or a bed for family, friends or strangers alike. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Ted, and is survived by her sons, Harvey (Lynne), Trish (Chris) Coish, Annissa and Aliya, Jan (Michelle), as well as Lorne (Helen), Derry (Kristine), Olivia and Sebastien, Danielle (Ray), Benjamin and Connor, along with her many nephews and nieces and friends. As per Evelyn’s wishes there will be no funeral. There will be a Graveside Service on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Those wishing to attend should meet at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St. W at 2:30 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at 6 Edelweiss Crescent on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to can make donations in Evelyn’s name to Providence Place Foundation, 100-2nd Ave. NE, Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 1B8.
