TARGERSON - Margaret Isobel (Burnett) - age 88 years. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Auntie, Cousin, and Friend, Isobel Targerson. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. The Funeral Service was held Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the First United Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastoral Minister Kelly Grittner and Shirley Wilson officiating. The soloist was Blaine Braaten, and Isobel’s grandson, Derek Targerson, read the eulogy. The ushers were her nieces Jackie Hunter, Brenna Stolhandske, Phyllis Moore, and Shirley Burnett. Honorary urn bearers are all who enriched her life with stories and laugher. Isobel is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Clarence; two sons Greg and Cecil (Cathy); two grandsons Ryan, and Derek (Kim), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends at the Prairie Pioneers Independent Housing. She is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Jane Burnett, six siblings Jean (John) Humphreys, James Burnett, Walter (Audrey) Burnett, David (Dorothy) Burnett, Agnes (Howard) Hunter, and John (Lillian) Burnett, brothers-in-law Ted (Janette) and Hurley Targerson. Isobel was born on May 4, 1925 at the Swift Current General Hospital. She was the last of seven children born to Walter and Jane Burnett, and the only member of the family to be born in a hospital. She attended Swinton School until grade 8, then did correspondence for grades 9-11, and received her grade 12 at Swift Current Collegiate Institute. She later took a secretarial course in Regina and returned to Swift Current to work for the law office of Donnelly and Polley. She met Clarence Targerson and they were married on November 23, 1946. They lived and farmed in the Neidpath district and had two boys - Greg in 1949 and Cecil in 1952. In 1982 they bought a house in Swift Current and enjoyed visiting, playing crib at the Eagles, ice fishing, going on bus tours, and making weekly trips to the farm to check on her garden and the crops. Clarence was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and entered the Palliser Regional Care Centre where he still resides. Isobel visited him daily for many years. Throughout her years Isobel was a member of the Neidpath Ladies Aide, and a long-time member of the Swift Current Eagles. Isobel will be remembered most for her hard work and dedication to her farm, her garden, and her men. Her personality and sense of humor lit up a room; she left a positive mark on every person who met her. Family always came first for Isobel, and her two grandchildren were a great source of pride for her. Isobel was always a strong-willed woman, and proved that into her final days. One of the last things she said was, "I may not have had a fancy life, but it was a good life." In her memory, donations may be made to the Palliser Regional Care Centre Activities Fund, 440 Central Ave S, Swift Current, SK, S9H 3G6. Warren' Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
