It is with great sadness that the family of the late Yvonne Strickland-Merner announce her passing at the Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, ON on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the age of 48 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories, her parents Fred and Alice Strickland; brothers: Steven Strickland (Kimberley) and Kevin Strickland (Michele); niece Phoebe Strickland; uncles: Reuben Strickland, Tom Upwards (Bernice) and George Upwards (Sandra); aunts Mary Kettle and Clara Piercey (John); long time friend and room mate Ann Nicholls, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by grandparents: John & Phoebe Upwards and Wilfred & Gertie Strickland; uncles William Strickland and Eric Kettle, and aunt Beverley Strickland. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Friday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Agnes Dean, Jean Gravil and Daniel Newman. Interment will follow from the Non-denominational Cemetery, Batstone’s Road. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the SPCA.
