CURRAN, GARY RONALD - Unexpectedly at home on Sunday, September 29th, 2013 having just celebrated his 64th birthday. Beloved husband of Elizabeth "Liz" nee Whelly. Predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Audrey Curran of Saint John, New Brunswick. He will be missed by family, Robert and Evelyn Curran, Maureen and Emerson Mills, Patricia and Kevin Riley, James and Catherine Whelly and his nieces and nephews Amanda and Eric Sirois, Toban and Elizabeth Mills, Menna and Milo Riley, Brigid and Michael Milway, Gabrielle and Kevin Gallagher, Brian and Keighan Whelly, Jennifer and Cathy Whelly, great nieces and nephew and several cousins. Gary was a career civil servant with the Federal Government working in Halifax and Ottawa, principally with the Dept. of Public Works and Government Services where he retired as the Director General Labour Relations, Human Resources and Communications Branch. He received many awards throughout his career including the Public Service Award of Excellence in 2007. Gary was a graduate of the University of New Brunswick and in his earlier years in Saint John, N. B. he was a Fellowship student with the YMCA. He contributed his time throughout his life for various charitable initiatives. Gary loved to travel and he and Liz enjoyed many trips together, many times accompanied by family or friends, especially the annual winter visit to Florida.
