Margaret Firth

FIRTH, MARGARET EDITH DORIS - Margaret Edith Doris Firth, age 93, of Halifax, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home on October 2, 2013. Born in Moncton N.B. on June 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Abner (Earle) and Alice (Epps) Goodwin. She was a caring, loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Margaret moved to Halifax with her husband and family in 1951. She was an avid knitter, supplying many of the nurses at the V.G. Hospital with baby sweaters. She enjoyed travelling in Canada and the U.S., especially her trips to Disneyworld in Florida. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Reginald, and youngest daughter, Linda; also, brother John (Jack) Goodwin of Moncton. She is survived by her daughters, Rosemary and Barbara (late Harold) Mills of Halifax, sons, Derek (Bonnie) and David (Janis) of Lower Sackville, brother, Dennis (Wanda) Goodwin, Riverview, N.B., sister-in-law, Shirley (Firth) Fisher, Hampton, N.B., grandchildren, Jennifer Henderson, Steve (Angela) Firth, Karen (Donny) Larlee, Joanne Firth (Christian LaForce) and Chris (Beth) Firth, all of Halifax, and Andy (Kate) Firth of Victoria. B.C., and great grandchildren Justin, Nicole, Brianna, Hayleigh, Evan, Ireland, Aidan, Miles and Charlotte.
Visitation will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4th, at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5th at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Oakridge Memory Gardens, 1078 Old Sackville Road, Lower Sackville. A reception will follow at Atlantic Funeral Homes.
