At the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Thursday, October 10, 2013, of Barry James Maloney, formerly of South Kildare, age 92 years. Born in London, England, on May 3, 1921, after serving with the British Army for 17 years, he and his family immigrated to Canada in the 1950s. Barry worked in Montreal, until moving to Prince Edward Island in 1979 where he built and operated the Prince Edward Island Miniature Railway near Alberton. Barry was predeceased by his first wife Allison and by his sister Patricia. He is survived by his second wife Therese d’Amour, son Robert, daughter Penny, stepdaughter Madeleine, two sisters, Annie and Maureen in England and a large group of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barry's family wishes to convey special thanks to Richard and Donna Blanchard for their special friendship and support of Barry. At Barry's request there will be no visitation of formal memorial service. If so desired, memorial donations in his memory to a charity of one's choice may be made through the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton.
