EDWARD WAYNE HUSTEJ
August 7, 1949 – October 14, 2013 (bold and under name)
Edward passed away on Monday, October 14th, 2013 at the age of 64 in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital surrounded by his family. Ed will be remembered by his loving wife of 33 years Susan, son Jaysen (Nicole) of Saskatoon, two sisters Mary Henderson of Saskatoon and Sandi (Martin) Macri of St. Andrews, MB, and brother Ron Hustej of Airdrie, AB and by numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents Michael and Pauline Hustej, brothers: John Hustej, Andrew Hustej and Peter Hustej, and sisters: Annie Holhauser, Jeanette Danes and Doreen Jordan. Ed was a loving and proud father. He was known by many as meticulous, and having the plushest yard around. He loved watching his sports on TV like the Saskatchewan Roughriders, but his favorite pastimes were watching baseball, talking sports with his son and in the summer just enjoying life out on the deck with his family. Ed never missed putting in his sport select picks for the day. He also had a passion for music and got his first guitar at age 8 from his mother. He eventually upgraded to a Gibson Les Paul that he would never let anyone touch. He put together a number of different bands during high school, some involving his sister Dobey and later his brother Ron. At age 15 he played in Bella, where each band member’s first initial made up the band’s name. Rarely doing anything without his brother Ron, Ed progressed to creating his largest and most popular band Canada’s Knice ‘n’ Ezzie during the 70’s. He was born and raised in Prince Albert. He worked a variety of jobs throughout his life from working in Orpheum Theater and Strand Theatre with his brother Ronnie both as Ushers. He also worked at Walk Away Shoe Store as a Salesman in Prince Albert. Ed started his career at Service Canada as an Unemployment Insurance Agent in Prince Albert in 1984. After moving to Saskatoon Ed continued his work for Service Canada and retired after 27 years. In his retirement years, Ed often enjoyed taking it easy, putting his feet up and making frequent stops to his son & daughter in laws for a coffee and a quick yard critique. Ed’s family would like to thank homecare, St. Paul's Hospital and the team at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre for the care, good cheer, and support that they provided Edward through his battle with cancer. Funeral Service will be held at River Park Memorial Chapel, 301 River Street West, Prince Albert, SK on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will take place in the Garden of , Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made towards the Choc'laCure campaign online at www.choclacure.com to help purchase equipment for the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wayne Timoffee, Funeral Director
