MCCRIE: Dorothy Irene McCrie, age 80, of Kyle, SK, passed away October 14, 2013 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Kyle Elks Community Hall with Jim McNaughton officiating. The pianist was Darlene Smith and a solo was performed by Jenn Karponczai. The life tribute was presented by Carla McCrie. The ushers were Neil McCrie and Alf Pierce. The Urn Bearers were Darcy Ward and Jarett McCrie. An honor guard was formed by members of the Order of Royal Purple. Dorothy is survived by her son Lenard (Donna) Ward; grandson Darcy; great grandchildren Ryley and Kole Ward; son Rick (Del) McCrie; grandchildren Carla (Chad) McCrie, Jenn (Marco) Karponczai, and Jarett (Tara) McCrie; brothers and sister Webb Ward, Louise (Clayton) Clark, Raymond "Bud" Ward and Helen (Gene) Boll; sisters-in-law Hazel McKechney and Leah Start and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Gertrude Ward; husband Hugh "Jack" McCrie; brother Perry Ward; brother-in-law John McKechney and sisters-in-law Grace Burr and Isabel Webb. Dorothy was born on January 28, 1933 in the Sonningdale District. She attended the Whilness Rural School near Sonningdale. Dorothy was united in marriage to Hugh "Jack" McCrie on September 8, 1972 in Swift Current. She was a homemaker and worked alongside Jack on the farm for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Royal Purple Lodge in Kyle and the North Landing Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy enjoyed rock cutting, loved sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening. In her younger years she enjoyed playing ladies softball, curling and travelling, in the winter months they would spend time in Arizona. Dorothy truly loved and enjoyed all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she also had a very special love for her dog Cloe. Dorothy will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to the Elks and Royal Purple Children's Fund.
