GINTER- Helen Ginter (nee Janzen), age 90, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013, at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Helen was born on May 13, 1923, in the Blumenort area to Johan and Elizabeth Janzen. Her education went only as far as the elementary level, even though she had always dreamt of becoming a nurse. As a teenager, Helen had various housekeeping jobs. Helen married William Ginter on May 6, 1945, at the Ginter family home in Chortitz. Together, Helen and William had three children, a son Bill, and two daughters, Leona and Marilyn. Helen kept herself busy taking care of her children, the family’s livestock, her garden and always being William’s “right hand man”. Any leisure time they had was spent with family, whom they both loved dearly or traveling. Helen was predeceased by her husband, William, in March 2013; her parents, Johan in 1967 and Elizabeth in 1941; all of her siblings; and by numerous in-laws. Helen is survived by her children, Bill (Betty) of Chortitz, Leona (Ed) of Chortitz, Marilyn (Randy) of Schoenfeld; nine grandchildren and spouses; twenty great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margaret Janzen, Kaye Neustaeter, Stella (Frank) Dyck and Hilda Ginter; and by a brother-in-law, Jake (Annie) Ginter. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 18, 2013, at 1:30 pm from the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, Schoenfeld, SK with Rev. Abe Funk officiating. The Interment Service was held at the Schoenfeld Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Stacey Ginter, Stanley Ginter, Stevan Wiens, Michael Wiens, Steve Ebner and Tom Sebo.
