Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre after a short illness on Saturday, October 26, 2013, Irene M. Power – Scully (nee Burke), age 78 years of Tors Cove. Predeceased by her husbands John Gerald Power (2001) and Diarmuid Scully (2009). Leaving to mourn her children, John Jr. (Marion), Debby (Mike Cahill), Allan (Helen), Terry (Debbie), Brenda (Brendan Swain), Sandra (Dan Donnelly), Fabian (Bun), Ronnie (Amanda), her step-children, Mary Francis (Chau) and Teresa, nineteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and special friend Raymond Hayward. Leaving to mourn as well her sisters Kay Genovese, Helen O’Keefe and Patsy Monzan and her brother Kevin Burke. Also mourning her loss are her sisters-in-law Bernadette Burke, Marguerite Burke, Rita Burke, Eileen Jordan, Hilda Tuff, and Rose Power. She will also be missed by the Tors Cove Dart League and the Daffodil Seniors Club, Goulds. Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls, on Monday, October 28, and Tuesday, October 29, from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial from Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Tors Cove, on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Tors Cove. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
