DOERKSEN-Jack (Johan) Doerksen was born on May 21, 1925, on the family farm south of Rush Lake, Saskatchewan. He married Vera (Alvira) Doerksen on July 10, 1952, in the Capeland Church. Jack enjoyed his 25 year career in the Air Force (not Armed Forces!), where he and Vera made many dear lifelong friends. Highlights of his time with the Air Force included two tours of duty with NATO in Europe. Friends and family will remember Jack for his sense of humour and as an avid hunter and carpenter. A few surviving gophers at NW101610 will remember him as a force to be reckoned with. Jack passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Vera; and his children and their spouses, Norma and Randy (Regina), Holly and Lynn (Ottawa), Kelly and Cynthia (Victoria), and Wendy and Wayne (Winnipeg). Jack cherished the precious time he spent with his four grandchildren, Brad, Kaelan, Ryan, and Emma. Jack’s time with Dale and Marsha, Raegan and Rob, Lane and Nicole, and their children was also very dear to him. Jack is also survived by sisters Kay and Margaret. He was predeceased by his cherished son, Brad, his parents, and seven siblings. A Memorial Luncheon was held on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 3:00 pm from the Waldeck Community Hall, Waldeck SK. Friends and family were invited to gather informally, to hear a few words commemorating Jack’s life, followed by a light luncheon. Donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK. For further information or to sign the Family Book of Condolences, please go to swiftcurrentfuneralhome.com
