COCHET: Edward Berchmans Cochet. It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Ed Cochet, at the age of 58, on October 20, 2013 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Ed was born on December 18, 1954 in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan to Luella and Berchmans Cochet. Ed graduated from St. Louis, Sk. High School in 1972 followed by a year of Pre-Employed in Plumbing at Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon, Sk. Ed's Apprenticeship and career began at Cas's Plumbing & Heating in Prince Albert, Sk. in 1973, where Cas and Rose Kadziolka helped shape him into the proud and experienced Journeyman Plumber he would become. In the fall of 1988 Ed relocated to Swift Current, Sk. to work for Ray Nyczai at NB Mechanical Contractors. Ed loved Swift Current and enjoyed his time working for Nick (Ray). In 1999 Ed and Jackie bought NB which became NB Mechanical Contractors (99) Ltd. Together they operated NB until the spring of 2006. Immediately following, Ed started work at Swift Plumbing & Heating and was there until his passing. Ed enjoyed his freedom and sharing his knowledge at Swift Plumbing. Not only was he now working with one of his best friends, Ryan Tynning, but he got to share his joy when his daughter Sheena joined Swift Plumbing in 2008. Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman. He participated in many fishing tournaments, sometimes even bringing home a prize. More than winning Ed enjoyed his time spent with his many partners in his sporting activities and solace of being on the land and open waters. Ed met Jackie Schultz at Cas's Plumbing & Heating in 1976 and they were married in Moose Jaw, Sk. on June 30, 1978. Their happiness was complete with the birth of their daughter Sheena Therese in 1982. We were now and always will be "The Cochet Three". Ed is survived by his loving wife Jackie and precious daughter Sheena, his mother Luella Cochet of Prince Albert, Sk., his sister Doris (Emile Hounjet) of Prud'homme, Sk., brothers Albert of Birch Hills, Sk., Greg (Irene Hounjet) of St. Louis, Sk., Paul (Cecile Hounjet) of Saskatoon, Sk., mother-in-law Elsie Schultz of Drinkwater, Sk., brothers-in-law Howard (Dorothy Baerg) of Drinkwater, Sk., Brad of Moose Jaw, Sk., Boyd (Pat Alliston) of Calgary, AB., sisters-in-law Brenda (Randy Ludwar) of Swift Current, Sk., June (Keith Gieni) of Moose Jaw, Sk., Becki of Regina, Sk., his God Children Denis Hounjet of Prud'homme, Sk., and Kayla (Gieni) Trevena of Regina, Sk., as well as numerous special nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his father Berchmans Cochet, grandparents Augustine and Joseph Cochet, Ella and Albert Farncombe and his Father-In-Law Pete Schultz. A memorial service was held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1:00 pm from the Alpine Church of God in Swift Current with Pastor Alex Allan officiating. The organist was Sharon Penny. The Honorary Pallbearers were all who shared in Ed's life. The life tribute was presented by Ryan Tynning. The interment service will take place at a later date. Ed will truly be missed but fondly remembered by his family friends and co-workers. In his memory, memorial donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation or Duck's Unlimited.
