BRITTAIN, LORETTA MAY - With heavy hearts, the family of Loretta May Brittain, announce her death, at the Moncton Hospital, on Thursday, October 31, 2013. She was the loving wife of William Brittain of Hampton, NB and a dedicated mother to her children. Loretta was born in Taymouth, NB, on May 28, 1931, the daughter of the late William and Harriet (MacFadgen) Dodds. Loretta graduated from Fredericton High School with honors and UNB Class of 1953 majoring in science having achieved many awards and scholarships. She worked as a lab technician at the Fredericton Hospital and for some years in the US. Her weekly Tuesday morning happy event was quilting with her dear friends at the Hampton United Church. Loretta found great joy in doing service to her church, especially food preparation including her famous rolls. She also loved traveling, visiting with her sister-in-law Doreen and reading. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Brittain of Logan, Utah, U.S.A; son Dr. Rodney Brittain and his wife MaryLee of Ottawa, ON; three sisters Margaret Zacharias of St. Davids, ON, Shirley Booker of Fredericton, NB, Jean (Nick) McNichol of Cloyne, ON; one brother William (Sharon) Dodds of Castleton, ON; two grandchildren Kelsea and Hanna Brooks, Logan, Utah; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant son David Brittain; sisters Una Dickson and Hazel Sands.
Visitation will take place at Reid's Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral service, conducted by Rev Kelly Hudson-Lewis, will be held from Hampton United Church at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. A private family interment will take place in Welsford Valley Cemetery. Donations to the Hampton United Church or to the donors choice, would be appreciated.
