KINNEBREW-Dorothy Rose Kinnebrew, age 84, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Prairie Pioneer Lodge, Swift Current, SK. Dorothy is survived by her sisters-in-law, Paulina Bakus, Ladona (John) Tufts and Marilyn Smith; her nephews, Ken (Ruth) Bakus, Robert (Nancy) Bakus, Rod (Cindy) Bakus, Randi (Janet) Bakus, John Tufts, Mark Tufts, Michael Smith; her nieces, Laura Ryetts, Jaimie Donahue, Melissa Smith, Dana Keef, and Kathy Everett; a nephew-in-law, Mervin Sayese; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Kinnebrew; her parents, Caroline & Julius Bakus; her sister, Hildegarde (Arthur) Bollinger; her brother, Heinz Bakus; sisters-in-law, Edith Standridge and Julie Everett; a nephew, Paul Houston; and by a niece, Maryanne Sayese. Dorothy was born on March 3, 1929, in Morse, SK . In her early years, Dorothy lived in Morse, SK and attended the Morse School. When she was done her schooling, she worked a short stint at the Royal Bank in Swift Current, SK. She then met her husband, Gerald Kinnebrew and they relocated to Houston Texas while he attended University. She took employment at the First National Bank in Dallas, Texas but then switched over to Sabre Oil Company in Wichita Falls. Dorothy and Gerald were married on August 5, 1953, in Dallas Texas, having a small ceremony with close family and friends. She was very fashionable, loved to entertain and being with family. After Gerald passed away she returned to her home town in Canada to live with her sister, Hildegard in Morse, SK. She attended the United Church in Morse and was a member of the Senior Centre until she moved to the Prairie Pioneer Lodge in Swift Current, SK where she lived until her passing. Dorothy will be missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at2:00 pm from the Morse United Church with Lay Pastor Barbara Wiebe officiating. The Hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “In The Bulb There is a Flower” For those wishing, donations to the Alzheimer Association would be appreciated by the family. Dorothy will be laid to rest with her husband at the Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
